Multiple aspects of the game can be altered due to its alpha nature and an active modding community provides packs of custom creatures and materials. There are ramps going down to where they are, but none of my dwarves are hauling them up. I can see them by going down and their corpses and picks are lying there, making miasma. It already has very deep gameplay, with many features being added in regular updates. I had two of my mining dwarves mine a few levels down, and they died.
